Stewardship Specialist

As a Stewardship Specialist at J. Safra Sarasin, you will develop and lead engagement activities and proxy voting processes in the area of sustainability. You will work closely with the asset management team, analyze ESG issues, and engage directly with companies on strategic sustainability matters.

Your Role

  • As a Stewardship Specialist at Bank J. Safra Sarasin, you will join our leading Sustainability team to develop and carry out stewardship activities (engagement activities and proxy voting).
  • Reporting to the Head of Stewardship, you will work closely with portfolio managers and provide fundamental analysis and support to the Bank's asset management division.

Your Responsibilities

  • Engage directly and collaboratively with corporate issuers on strategic ESG issues.
  • Take ownership of developing and driving thematic engagement topics (e.g., strategic minerals, human rights).
  • Participate in proxy voting activities by identifying and analyzing key shareholder meetings in accordance with our voting policy.
  • Provide support for the operational aspects of proxy voting activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive engagement records and actively contribute to RFPs, proxy voting reports for clients, and annual reviews.
  • Contribute to high-quality ESG and stewardship-related research and conduct sector-specific ESG analysis.

Your Profile

  • A university degree in business, economics, finance, or another field relevant to sustainable finance, with at least 5 years of practical experience in financial services.
  • Interest in non-financial risk and sustainability topics; basic knowledge of stewardship is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to evaluate problems and set priorities.
  • A solution- and outcome-oriented approach to work, combined with a hands-on attitude, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Fluency in German and English; French is a plus.
