Storage Engineer - Platform Engineering

A Storage Engineer (m/f/d) is to work in Man Group's Platform Engineering department in London and will be responsible for the management and optimization of storage infrastructures. The role offers a 12 month fixed term contract and the opportunity to work on large infrastructure projects and develop your skills.

About the role

They are currently undergoing a significant infrastructure overhaul in 2025 and are looking for support to transform their infrastructure. We are looking for a Storage Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team in London to help us achieve our goals.

Tasks

  • Managing large internal data centers with tens of thousands of cores and hundreds of terabytes of memory, operating Pyron at scale
  • Build and manage Man Group's infrastructure, both on-premise and in the cloud, using technologies such as Python, .Net, Linux, Windows Server, databases and storage
  • Writing software to automate infrastructure and create resilient self-service technologies for thousands of users at Man Group
  • Maintaining resilient systems while managing petabyte-sized memory and large CPU and GPU deployments
  • Operation and optimization of global network connections within our data centers
  • Collaboration with business partners in a dynamic environment

Requirements

Required skills and experience

  • Technical experience through open source contributions, 2+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience with one of the following programming or scripting languages: Python / Java / C / Powershell / C++ / Go
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet or Salt
  • Experience with Windows Server, Linux distributions or large scale storage arrays, experience with managing storage arrays from vendors such as Dell, VAST, Pure Storage or Hetzner

Desired skills and experience

  • Understanding of how source control and continuous deployment workflows work with tools like Git
  • Experience with the administration of operating systems, e.g. Linux, Windows or MacOS, and understanding of cloud technologies
  • Self-organized with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Self-starters with a desire to learn and understand more about the business environment in which you work
