Structured Products Advisor

The Structured Products Advisor at Julius Baer plays a key role in developing and executing the structured products business in the Middle East. The position requires a deep understanding of financial products, strong analytical skills, and experience advising clients in the private banking or wealth management sector.

Tasks

The Structured Products Advisor will play a key role in driving growth and the strategic execution of the structured products business (equity and fixed income) in the Middle East region. Responsibilities include:
  • Collaborating with investment advisors and relationship managers in Dubai, Bahrain, and Abu Dhabi to identify opportunities for increasing returns and managing risk.
  • Proactively promote the cross-selling of SP solutions tailored to customer portfolios and market conditions.
  • Supporting relationship managers in developing customized hedging, investment, and liquidity strategies using EQ and FI instruments to increase the share of client assets and strengthen client relationships.
  • Monitoring and reporting on SP-related sales performance by location and consultant; providing actionable insights for improvement.

Product and Idea Coordination

The Structured Products Advisor will:
  • Serve as a regional expert on high-volume trading ideas from Asia and Switzerland, tailoring them to the preferences and regulatory environment of clients in the Middle East.
  • Present selected market ideas and product variants during the Middle East Morning Meeting and in ME group leader meetings to ensure that they align with local demand and compliance standards.
  • Work with product development and sales teams worldwide to create offerings tailored to regional customer behavior (e.g., local Middle Eastern market access, Shariah-compliant products, etc.).

Requirements

The requirements for this position are:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field; advanced professional certifications (CFA, CAIA, FRM) are highly desirable.
  • At least 8–10 years of experience in private banking sales, trading, or advisory services within private banking or wealth management, preferably with experience serving ultra-high-net-worth clients.
  • A deep understanding of over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives, correlation products such as FCN and others, minimum redemption (or capital-protected) bonds, as well as a strong understanding of fixed-income products (in the context of yield curves or credit products such as credit-linked notes).
  • Previous experience working in or managing markets in the GCC region is desirable; familiarity with local regulations (e.g., SCA guidelines) and cultural nuances is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with knowledge of Bloomberg, Reuters, and CRM systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
