Sustainable Investment Analyst

As a Sustainable Investment Analyst at Bank J. Safra Sarasin in Zurich, you will be responsible for conducting sustainability analyses of real estate investments and overseeing the related research and reporting. Your responsibilities will include ESG analyses, climate and transition risk assessments, and the preparation of sustainability reports.

Your role

As a Sustainable Investment Analyst – Real Estate at Bank J. Safra Sarasin, you will lead the sustainability coverage of real estate within our sustainability team by combining in-depth industry knowledge with broader contributions to sustainability research and reporting. Your work will encompass three interconnected areas: sustainability analysis of real estate through direct and indirect investments, industry research that feeds into our proprietary JSS ESG rating, and support for group-wide sustainability reporting. You will serve as the real estate expert on the team and contribute to the bank’s broader sustainability mandate, with the opportunity to expand your industry coverage over time.

Your tasks

  • Conduct ESG analysis for Swiss and European real estate strategies
  • Assessing Climate and Transition Risks
  • Oversee the annual GRESB assessment and labeling processes
  • Maintain and update the Climate Monitor for real estate funds and buildings
  • Creating sustainability reports and publications
  • Coverage of the indirect real estate universe as part of team-based sector sustainability research
  • Contribute to the development of our own JSS-ESG rating methodology
  • Support the preparation of bank-wide and group-wide sustainability reports, such as the annual Group Sustainability Report
  • Support the development of marketing and research materials across the entire sustainability spectrum

Your profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in real estate and/or finance
  • At least 3 years of practical experience, ideally in both real estate and finance (e.g., real estate fund management, real estate investment analysis)
  • Familiarity with ESG criteria in real estate and applicable standards/regulations
  • An investment mindset; experience in asset management and/or wealth management is a plus
  • The confidence to perform at the highest level, articulate expert opinions in both internal and external settings, and engage stakeholders across the entire banking sector
  • A strong sense of personal responsibility (taking ownership of complex issues from start to finish) and the ability to drive tasks forward independently while maintaining high quality standards
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills; knowledge of SQL and Python is a plus
  • Fluent in English and German, both spoken and written
