Switchboard Operator

Job description

The Switchboard Operator position is based in Lugano. The role involves answering and managing incoming calls, providing information in accordance with internal and external guidelines, and transferring calls to the appropriate contacts or taking detailed messages as needed. The candidate must be fluent in English, Italian, French, and German.

Main tasks

• Answer incoming calls, greet callers, provide information, transfer calls, or take messages as needed
• Perform various data management or word processing tasks, such as updating phone directories
• Perform general administrative tasks
• Treat Confidential Information as Confidential

Requirements

• Successfully completed business apprenticeship
• Fluent in English and national languages
• Approx. 2–4 years of professional experience as a switchboard operator, handling requests from various sources, working under pressure
• Excellent time management skills, ability to multitask and prioritize
• Active listening: Giving your full attention to what others are saying, taking the time to understand their points, asking questions when appropriate, and not interrupting when it is inappropriate
• Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
• Communicative, trustworthy demeanor; politeness
• Ability to work in a team and listening skills
• Actively seeking ways to help people
