System Engineer

Overview

Our GPS Technology team supports the Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) businesses and is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our team in Singapore. The team works directly with business owners to design, implement and support innovative solutions in an agile environment.

Tasks

• Actively participate in Program Increment (PI) planning processes within GPS
• Environment and configuration management of Murex applications/FICC modules and Java applications
• Provide expert level support and troubleshooting for internal and external software, with a focus on Unix (Linux), SQL and XML languages
• Configuration and scripting around Murex offerings to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance
• Design, build, test and deploy new tools, services, dashboards to enhance our platform and applications, and ensure that business critical services/features are available and running properly in production, with a focus on high availability and minimal downtime
• Plan and troubleshoot end-of-day (EOD) processes to ensure timely and accurate completion
• Participate in on-call services for production support to provide prompt and effective solutions to problems and minimize the impact on business operations
• Availability for production deployments on one weekend per month

Requirements

Professional and technical requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, system administration or technical support, with a focus on financial trading applications and platforms
• Experience in environment management, including strong expertise in Linux operating systems and experience in bash scripting
• Experience with Java application support and scripting languages (e.g. Python, Perl)
• Experience with messaging systems (e.g. MQ, Kafka)
• Experience with database/SQL-related queries (Oracle, Sybase)
• Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions
• Experience with agile development methods and version control systems (e.g. Bitbucket, GITlab, etc.)
• Knowledge of Murex MXML Exchange workflow design and implementation is an advantage
• Knowledge of Murex Reporting Datasmart or other Murex components is a plus
• Preferably with Java development experience
