Linux System Engineer

Tasks

The Linux Server Engineering Team is responsible for the design, planning, and operation of a modern, highly available Red Hat server and container infrastructure; assists with the implementation of middleware; and supports other teams in the deployment of new applications and lifecycle management. Your role:

• Participate in the planning, design, engineering, and maintenance of Linux servers, the container platform, the LDAP environment, and the monitoring environment;
• Collaboration on the further development of automation in the provisioning and management of IT infrastructures;
• Second-level support and on-call service for Linux servers; management of the software lifecycle for the operating system and related applications;
• Ensuring the effectiveness of the disaster recovery concept and supporting other teams with concepts relating to the implementation and migration of existing and new applications.

Requirements

Your knowledge and experience:

• Proven education and training in computer science (vocational school, university of applied sciences, ETH/university), experience in Linux server engineering (Red Hat Enterprise Server), and strong programming skills (Bash, Perl, or Python);
• Knowledge of information security, container solutions (OpenShift, K8s), LDAP, configuration management (Puppet or Ansible), and monitoring (Icinga or Nagios) is a plus;
• Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, as well as resilience and assertiveness;
• Confident oral and written communication in German or French as well as in English.
