Tax Advisory for Private Markets Investment Platform

About this role
The BlackRock Private Markets platform is expanding rapidly and a new team member is needed in London to join the global BlackRock Private Markets Tax team. The team currently consists of over 40 employees in the US, UK and Hong Kong and is led by two Managing Directors.Tasks
This role focuses on providing tax advice to BlackRock's Private Markets investment platform and supports the Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) business, including:- Tax support for the acquisition of private infrastructure investments and support for selected investments as well as tax contributions for the associated financial modeling
- Monitoring the establishment and maintenance of tax holding structures
- Supervision of Big4 and external tax experts advising on such transactions
Main tasks
- Advice on tax work, including:
- Tax due diligence for potential targets
- Tax contributions for financial models
- Tax structuring of investments and investment holding structures
- Review and negotiation of legal documents
- Coordination of tax due diligence for acquisitions and disposals
- Key contact for GIP deal teams and advice on tax matters relating to investments, underlying investment structures and fund financing
- Communication with investors and underlying investment sponsors regarding tax inquiries and issues and engagement on tax provisions in legal documents
- Collaboration with members of the global private markets tax team
- Support in monitoring EMMA tax reporting
- Cooperation with members of the GIP platform, e.g. finance, legal and operations
- Monitoring tax developments and responding to changing regulations
- Establishing robust processes and controls
- Working with the Private Markets Tax team to enhance BlackRock's broader impact
Reporting line
The role reports to a Director who reports to the Head of Tax.Requirements
- A degree in a related field (e.g. accounting)
- Knowledge of tax law and technology
- Understanding funds and investments
- Experience in a tax consulting or auditing firm or in-house at an infrastructure, private equity or asset management company
- At least 5 years of experience with tax issues in M&A and private credit transactions in the asset management sector
