Tax Manager

The Julius Baer Group is seeking a Tax Manager in Singapore to support the regional tax function in matters of tax compliance, advisory services, and regulation. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of tax laws in Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as experience in tax advisory services for the financial services sector.

Job description

The Tax Manager position supports the regional tax function in managing corporate taxes, providing tax advice, and handling regulatory matters for the bank. The role requires in-depth technical knowledge of tax laws in Singapore and Hong Kong, experience in tax consulting for the financial services sector, and the ability to collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders as well as external advisors.

Tasks

  • Preparation of tax reports for headquarters
  • Communication with external tax advisors regarding tax returns and statutory filings
  • Analysis and response to tax inquiries and corporate tax matters
  • Management of withholding tax returns and reporting requirements
  • Support for internal and external audit processes related to tax matters
  • Support for GST, ACAP, and PAP audits
  • Advising internal stakeholders on the tax implications of banking products and services
  • Providing advice on tax deductions, GST, reverse charges, and other tax-related inquiries
  • Providing tax support for new products, transactions, and structuring initiatives
  • Preparation and updating of up-to-date transfer pricing documentation for companies in Singapore and Hong Kong
  • Coordination with the group tax headquarters regarding cross-border tax matters
  • Preparation of internal tax reports
  • Maintaining the tax, risk, and control framework in accordance with internal governance standards
  • Ensuring that tax records are properly documented and retained

Requirements

  • Degree in accounting, banking, and finance, or an equivalent field
  • At least 6 years of relevant tax experience at a Big Four accounting firm and/or the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore
  • Extensive knowledge of corporate tax laws in Singapore and Hong Kong
  • Knowledge of the banking and financial services industry is a plus
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and with a progressive and positive attitude
  • A solid understanding of tax processes, driving process improvements and efficiency
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, an international mindset, and the ability to engage regional and global stakeholders
  • Team player, proactive, and has a positive work ethic
