Tax Manager

The Julius Baer Group is seeking a Tax Manager in Singapore to support the regional tax function in managing corporate tax, advisory, and regulatory matters. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of tax laws in Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as experience in tax management within the financial services sector.

Tasks

This position supports the regional tax function in managing corporate taxes, providing tax advice, and handling regulatory matters for the bank. The role requires strong technical knowledge of Singapore and Hong Kong tax regulations, experience in tax management within the financial services sector, and the ability to collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders as well as external advisors.
  • Preparation of tax reports for headquarters
  • Communication with external tax agents regarding tax returns and statutory filings

Regulatory and Withholding Tax Matters

  • Analysis and response to tax inquiries and corporate tax matters from the IRAS
  • Management of withholding tax returns and reporting requirements
  • Support for internal and external audit processes related to tax matters
  • Support for PBAS, GST, ACAP, and IRAS audits

Consulting and Business Support

  • Advising internal stakeholders on the tax implications of banking products and services
  • Advice on tax deductions, GST, reverse charges, and other tax-related inquiries
  • Providing tax support for new products, transactions, and structuring initiatives

Transfer Pricing and Group Matters

  • Preparation/updating of up-to-date transfer pricing documentation for companies in Singapore and Hong Kong
  • Coordination with the Group Tax Department regarding cross-border tax matters

Tax Risk Management and Controls

  • Preparation of internal tax risk reports
  • Maintaining the tax, risk, and control framework in accordance with internal governance standards
  • Ensuring proper documentation and record-keeping for tax compliance

Process Improvement/Projects

  • Participation in selected international tax projects
  • Participation in system implementation or transformation projects with tax implications

Your profiles

Professional and technical

  • Degree in accounting, banking, and finance, or equivalent
  • At least 6 years of relevant tax experience at a Big Four accounting firm and/or the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate tax regulations in Singapore and Hong Kong
  • Knowledge of the banking and financial services industry is a plus
