Team Head, LATAM & Iberia Investment Advisory

Julius Baer is seeking a Team Head for the Latin America and Iberia region within the Investment Advisory division to lead a team of investment advisors and provide strategic investment advice to clients in this region. The ideal candidate has at least 8 years of experience in wealth management and is fluent in Spanish; proficiency in Portuguese is a strong plus.

About the job

As Team Head of LATAM & Iberia Investment Advisory, you will lead a high-performing team of investment advisors and serve as the primary strategic partner for relationship managers covering Latin America and Iberia. You will focus on providing strategic investment advice, cultural insight, language proficiency, and established credibility in the region.

Tasks

The tasks include:
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of experienced investment advisors specializing in Latin America and Iberia
  • Ensuring a smooth onboarding process for LATAM and Iberia
  • Defining clear performance goals, monitoring key metrics, and implementing structured feedback
  • Collaboration with HR and IPO leaders on recruitment, succession planning, and capacity building
  • Representative for the LATAM & Iberia Region
  • Providing strategic investment advice to high-net-worth clients
  • Serve as a trusted voice in high-stakes client interactions and provide thoughtful, empathetic, and strategic advice
  • Partner with relationship managers at local client meetings, investment planning discussions, and regular reports
  • Regular travel to key LATAM and Iberia hubs and coordination with local account teams to maintain close ties with clients and strengthen relationships
  • Contribution to Market-Oriented Research and Its Impact on Investment Decisions
  • Collaborate with the Chief Investment Office and regional teams to refine investment views and identify opportunities to generate value through strategic asset allocation
  • Contribute to company-wide initiatives aimed at improving the customer journey for Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking regions in Latin America, and driving digital excellence and multichannel development
  • Ensuring smooth transaction execution and management to guarantee compliance with internal controls, settlement times, and regulatory standards
  • Implementing standardized operating procedures within the team to improve efficiency, scalability, and the ability to scale quickly

Requirements

The requirements include:
  • 8+ years of experience in wealth management or a related field
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish; proficiency in Portuguese is strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in wealth management with a focus on Latin America; no banking experience required
  • Expertise across all major asset classes (stocks, bonds, derivatives, hedge funds, private markets, and structured products)
  • Extensive knowledge of tax principles (Swiss and international), estate planning considerations, and monitoring of legislation
  • Strong professional credibility and executive-level experience, with the ability to make sound judgments under pressure
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills to explain complex ideas to diverse audiences
  • Excellent skills
