The position of Team Head – Products & Services Compliance plays a central role within the compliance function at Bank Julius Baer Europe (BJE). This position is critical to safeguarding the bank’s integrity and regulatory status by leading a dedicated team responsible for proactive compliance monitoring across core business activities.

Your challenge

The main tasks include:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing compliance team focused on product and service oversight, and foster a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring full compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and supervisory expectations across all BJE entities.
  • Assuming the "Second Line of Defense" responsibilities by providing independent, objective assessments and challenging front-line functions.

Regulatory advice and business partnership

The position also includes:
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to business units, the legal department, risk management, and product development regarding the compliance implications of current and emerging regulations.
  • Proactively assessing the impact of evolving regulatory landscapes and translating these into manageable guidelines and control enhancements.
  • Strategic contributions to cross-functional projects involving new product launches, market expansions, or system implementations that require compliance integration.

Compliance framework and controls

Other responsibilities:
  • Development, implementation, and continuous refinement of a risk-based compliance monitoring framework that aligns with Group standards and local regulatory expectations.
  • Monitor the implementation of the annual compliance control plan to ensure timely delivery and effective escalation of findings.
  • Coordinate corrective actions in collaboration with primary contacts and monitor progress toward a resolution.
  • Compilation of comprehensive periodic and ad hoc reports for BJE senior management, the Head of Regulatory and Product Compliance, the Chief Compliance Officer, and Group Compliance, detailing the effectiveness of controls, trends in issues, and mitigation plans.

Stakeholder engagement and regulatory interface

The position also includes:
  • Representing the Compliance function on key internal committees at the BJE and Group levels to contribute to company-wide risk discussions and policy formulation.
  • Coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries and internal and external audit requests to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.

Technical skills

Required skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of MiFID II, anti-fraud mechanisms, and tax compliance protocols.
  • Proficiency in using data analysis tools to identify patterns, support risk assessments, and improve monitoring efficiency.
