Team Head - Products & Services Compliance

About the job

The position of Team Head – Products & Services Compliance plays a central role within the compliance function at Bank Julius Baer Europe (BJBIE). The Team Head reports to the Head of Regulatory and Product & Services Compliance and is responsible for ensuring the bank’s integrity and regulatory compliance.

Your challenge

The main tasks include:

• Leadership, mentoring, and development of a high-performing compliance team focused on product and service monitoring.
• Ensuring full compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and supervisory expectations across all BJBIE entities.
• Assuming "second line of defense" responsibilities through independent, objective evaluation and scrutiny of front-line functions.

Regulatory advice and business partnership

The position also includes:

• Serving as a trusted advisor to business units, the legal department, risk management, and product development regarding the compliance implications of current and new regulations.
• Proactively assessing the impact of evolving regulatory landscapes and translating that into actionable guidelines and control enhancements.
• Strategic contributions to cross-functional projects involving new product launches, market expansions, or system implementations that require compliance integration.

Compliance framework and controls

Other responsibilities include:

• Development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a risk-based compliance monitoring framework that aligns with Group standards and local regulatory expectations.
• Monitoring the implementation of the annual compliance control plan and ensuring the timely reporting and effective escalation of findings.
• Coordinate corrective actions in collaboration with primary contacts and monitor progress toward a resolution.
• Preparation of comprehensive periodic and ad hoc reports for BJBIE management, the Head of Regulatory and Product & Services Compliance, the Chief Compliance Officer, and Group Compliance.

Technical skills

Required skills include:

• In-depth understanding of MiFID II, anti-fraud mechanisms, and tax compliance protocols.
• Proficiency in using data analysis tools to identify patterns, support risk assessments, and improve monitoring efficiency.
• A keen eye for detail, combined with a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach.

• Strong leadership presence with a proven ability to lead and motivate professional teams in a matrix organization.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including fluency in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
• Ability to work independently under pressure while maintaining composure and sound judgment.
