Tech Lead, Developer Experience & Platform Engineering

As Tech Lead for Developer Experience & Platform Engineering, you will be responsible for transforming the day-to-day work of engineers by combining technical leadership with people enablement. You will lead a team of SRE and backend engineers and develop cross-platform tools and processes to increase engineer productivity and security.

About the role

As a Tech Lead on our Platform team, you will change the way engineers across multiple product teams experience their daily work - from local development to production deployment.

They combine technical leadership with people enablement to make engineers faster, safer and more enjoyable.

You will lead a small team of SRE and backend engineers and treat the platform as a product - balancing roadmap execution, developer experience and operational resilience.

Tasks

Technical tasks:

  • Own internal platform roadmap and backlog - align priorities with strategic goals, developer feedback and long-term sustainability and viability;
  • Design and delivery of internal platforms, CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling;
  • Creation of common libraries, frameworks and developer tools (SDKs, CLIs) that standardize and improve productivity;
  • Incorporate safe standard, observable and compliant practices into platform development, while leveraging AI and automation to reduce cognitive load;
  • Clear communication to engineers (via changelogs, documentation and internal demos);
  • Function as technical decision-maker for platform architecture, tooling standards and lifecycle guidelines.

Management tasks:

  • Lead and grow a small team of SRE and backend engineers - conducting 1:1s, assisting with onboarding, goal setting and performance feedback;
  • Drive platform adoption across engineering teams through training, documentation and developer engagement;
  • Leading the backend guild and promoting consistent standards across teams;
  • Partner with tech leads, engineering managers and architects to align platform direction with organizational needs;
  • Promoting a culture of ownership, psychological safety and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Experience in leading platform or developer productivity initiatives across teams;
  • Strong background in Java (Quarkus) or NodeJS (NestJS), with Kubernetes, Terraform and GitLab CI/CD;
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS), microservices and developer tooling;
  • Experience in the implementation of lifecycle strategies (versioning, migration, deprecation);
  • Proven ability to document, communicate and promote platform tools and standards.
