Tech Lead, Java - Core Banking

Tasks

• Work closely with the Business Line Lead to define and meet project specifications, ensuring technical and business alignment across multiple projects.
• Developing and mentoring highly qualified software engineers.
• Build strong relationships with the business unit's key partners, including Business, Product, Operations, and the SADDLE team.
• Active contributions and mentoring of 10–15 engineers in collaboration with the team and, in particular, the lead.
• Management of a core banking development team of up to 10 developers.
• Working on business requirements and leading major code refactoring efforts to bridge the gap between the core systems and new platforms (e.g., AWS, Redis, Cassandra).
• Building a team to work on the next-generation platform and address the long-term challenges faced by a core banking team.
• Serves as a solution-oriented team member and technical authority within the team.
• Establishing and maintaining key partnerships with Core Banking and Client Development, as well as mentoring and promoting the best use of Edge in Core Banking and Edge Lending.

Requirements

• Experience in deploying and operating critical systems, with a genuine commitment to quality and security.
• Proven practical experience in designing resilient systems with a focus on maintainability, observability, and scalability.
• Strong practical knowledge of Java (7+) with Quarkus or Spring.
• Strong technical skills in working with Resilix and robust REST APIs, with an APC-first mindset.
• Extensive experience in implementing complex edge-case and multi-tenancy architectures, with a focus on performance, fault tolerance, and scalability.
• Practical experience with PostgreSQL (or similar RDBMS) and AWS (at a comfortable level).
• Clear, pragmatic communication skills, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Working comfortably in a rapidly changing environment with competing priorities, incomplete information, and the need for constant judgment.
• Experience with core banking, credit platforms, e-commerce, or similar systems is advantageous or, depending on the role, essential.
• Familiarity with or practical experience using distributed or embedded systems in a similar field, in order to understand the business context behind the technology.

Desirable, but not required

• Familiarity with working with Scala/Spring or similar JVM-based distributed computing systems (Akka, Cassandra, Kafka, etc.).
