Technology Leader, Alternative Investments

The Technology Leader for Alternative Investments is a leadership role where you will strategically lead a team to develop and implement technology solutions for Northern Trust's Alternative Investments business. You will work closely with business and technology teams to maximize performance, agility and effectiveness.

Tasks

  • As Senior Head of the Investment Management Technology Practice, the candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to the team and executing initiatives to deliver technology solutions to the Alternative Investments business.
  • The candidate will build and maintain strong relationships with business and technology partners and be responsible for leading and developing a team focused on delivering exceptional solutions and solving business challenges.
  • The candidate will work with leading vendors to create strategic technology roadmaps to modernize, optimize and transform technology solutions.
  • The candidate will focus on maximizing the value of services delivered to the business and work with stakeholders to align business strategies with strategic technology programs and initiatives.
  • The candidate will also improve communication and engagement with business partners and build long-term relationships between technology stakeholders that foster trust and transparency.
  • The candidate will align technology plans with growth-oriented business objectives and ensure consensus at all levels of the organization to ensure achievement of business goals.
  • The candidate will work with architecture and data teams to create roadmaps that enable business growth and the future of the business.
  • The candidate will plan, evaluate and develop talented employees, set performance standards and provide mentoring and training to develop and grow direct reports.
  • The candidate will ensure that all audit, security and risk management requirements are met.
  • The candidate will endeavor to keep up to date with new products and technologies to find optimal solutions and advise build vs buy options.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience leading and working on large, complex programs/projects in asset management data and technology.
  • Understanding of alternative investments, particularly private equity and hedge funds, and investment/financial technology in a large asset management environment.
  • Experience in leading large, multi-functional application transformation workstreams that deliver measurable results and business value, including risk mitigation, resilience, simplification and reduced total cost of ownership.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to achieve alignment across diverse teams and stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Experience with alternative investment platforms such as Backstop, Capita, Aladdin, Subscribe, Dealogic, Chronicle, etc.
  • Successful experience in hiring, developing and leading diverse and high performing teams and managing performance to drive a culture of accountability.
  • Experience with a range of technologies including database experience, working with big data, building and integrating APIs into platforms, microservices architecture, client facing application development, Java/Python, public and private cloud architecture.
  • Proficiency with agile (Scrum/Safe) and waterfall delivery methods.
  • Background in running team meetings, allocating action points and responsibilities and monitoring the overall progress of projects, with strong experience in using Jira and Confluence.

Salary
