Trade Support Team Leader

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- A Team Leader for Trade Support, with staff based in the UK and outsourced roles serving other business locations. Reporting to the Head of Nomura UC Global Asset Services, this role is responsible for managing daily trade support operations across multiple asset classes while maintaining strong operational controls and providing effective team leadership and oversight to a diverse team supporting trading operations.
- The ideal candidate would be a self-motivated team player with previous experience in a similar role.
- The candidate must be able to prioritize individual and team workloads and produce high-quality, accurate work that meets the standards required by internal and external parties.
- Lead and develop a team of trade support professionals, fostering a collaborative environment and constructive feedback, and identify training and development opportunities.
- Oversee the daily processing of confirmations and instructions for all equity and OTC derivatives products. Serve as the first point of escalation to follow up on trades that have not been allocated and confirmed.
- Confirmation and processing of all over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives, including credit default swaps, credit default swap options, interest rate swaps, and foreign exchange (FX) options.
- Overseeing the confirmation of all FX trades executed by the NAMUK Trading Desk to ensure trades are booked correctly, reviewing and identifying any trades that fall outside the scope of exceptions. Processing fixing rates for NDF trades and confirming trade details.
- Ensuring that all money market trades (CDs, MTNs, and FRNs) executed by the NAMUK Fiat Money desk are confirmed with counterparties in a timely manner. Processing daily calls or notifications to custodians.
- Providing daily cash flow forecasts to brokers and counterparties, ensuring that all cash balances are monitored and aligned with trading strategies to prevent any instances of insufficient funds. Providing support to the settlement team in Powai by assisting in raising queries with custodians to ensure that daily cash statements have been received. Processing daily calls or notifications to brokers and custodians to ensure trades are booked correctly. Monitoring pledged shares held on our behalf and ensuring that any issues, instructions, or disputes are resolved in a timely manner.
- Staying up to date with regulatory changes (MiFID / EU MiFID) and maintaining and updating procedures accordingly.
- Ensuring that existing procedures are kept up to date with changing processes and evolving business requirements.
Skills & Experience
- Previously held positions involving responsibility and experience in trading in similar markets and asset classes.
- Knowledge of derivative instruments, including over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives (credit default swaps, swaptions, interest rate swaptions, and other OTC products).
- A good understanding of the end-to-end processes involved in equity and fixed-income trading, including confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation.
- Experience working in a global environment, supporting multiple time zones and locations.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to communicate with internal and external parties.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to quickly understand new systems, both in-house and those supported by the market.
- Experience in collateral management would be highly desirable.
