University Graduate – Application Engineer 100% (f/m/d)

Job description

As an Application Engineer, you will be part of the IT Application Management Switzerland team and work closely with the Data & Analytics and Pricing units. These units play an important role in providing high-quality, globally harmonized data for various applications and in calculating the right prices for our banking products.

Tasks

• Development of data pipelines, implementation of data processes and services, and preparation of data sets
• Development of high-quality software solutions using Java and related technologies, with a focus on back-end development
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
• Support for business and other IT units, as well as troubleshooting and problem solving in test and production environments
• Testing your own applications and data pipelines to ensure that they meet functional and non-functional requirements
• Participation in code reviews and contribution to improving overall code quality
• Maintenance and modeling of JSON-based schemas and metadata to make them reusable within the organization
• Collaborating with experienced developers and architects from various banking sectors to ensure that solutions are aligned with Julius Baer's overall vision

Requirements

• Domain knowledge in programming languages (e.g., Java, Scala)
• Knowledge of streaming technologies (Kafka), Springboot, Kubernetes, and SQL
• Experience in providing data for reports/analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
• Experience in back-end development, including service-oriented architecture and RESTful services; front-end skills are an advantage
• Familiarity with agile development methods and version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions
• Good communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders
• Openness to taking on different roles and learning the entire software development cycle
