Associate Cross-Asset Trader

Job Description

To provide execution and order placement services to Man's investment engines.

Responsibilities

• Be aware of and act in accordance with the regulatory and legal framework governing the trader's activities, including but not limited to market abuse rules
• To be the first point of contact and able to relay market risk limits and thresholds and prudential levels
• To provide daily/ weekly/ monthly P&L

Products and Procedures

• Know, understand and comply with Man's Global Compliance policies and any internal processes relevant to the trader's business activities and with the requirements set out in Man's Staff Handbook and Global Code of Ethics as well as any regional or local compliance requirements
• Ensure accurate records are kept so that all transactions are covered, if not the trader's P&L recorded instructions
• Import regularly to their appointed the manager for which the trader is responsible for executing, have been recorded on the trading system consistently
• Report to the Global Head of Compliance in the event of any issues and to the appointed line manager
• Investigate and provide compliance control with regard to Confirmations received
• Monitor market activity for signs of market abuse and report any suspicious activity as well as known or suspected breaches of regulation, exchange rules or firm policy

Best Execution

• Continuously to improve process to ensure Man meets its Best Execution obligations for Man's clients
• Manage and continually review and challenge decision of execution
• Review frameworks for continuous evaluation and improvement of the execution process to minimise slippage and market impact risks
• Application of quantitative methods combined with trading experience to decide and discuss with the PM the optimal execution strategy to best match the PM's trading and investment objectives

Leverage, Technology

• Provide trading technology to improve execution tools and performance
• Enhance technology to help automate workflow
• Drive development of our trading platforms, infrastructure and technology
• Drive the application and quantitative analysis to measure performance of our systematic and discretionary strategies

Broker Selection Evaluation/Review

• Oversight of broker roster and ensuring proper allocation of flow keeping in mind metrics of broker performance, market impact, execution research and operational efficiency
• Feedback to brokers on areas of improvement, ranking etc
• Provide daily/ weekly/ monthly analysis and timeliness of trade matching
• Liaise with operations teams to ensure no disruption or lacking with the brokers resulting in process bottlenecks leading to missed opportunities on the execution from in the pursuit of best execution

Operational & Technical Considerations

• Ability to resile/ bounce an order 'book', based on the PM's recorded instructions, if required (this should not be an expected daily practice)
• Experience with market data (Bloomberg, market data feeds)
• Continue to be able to run P&L holdings
• Actual Hands on experience/ deep knowledge of trading

Key Skills & Experience

• 1-3 years of experience trading in a financial institution or relevant technical experience
• Advanced skill level - programming language such as Python, SOG
• Developing and understanding of Market Microstructure
• Hands-on attitude; willing to get involved with technology and projects across the firm
• Strong academic record and a degree from a leading university
• Attention to detail and disciplined. Able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to thrive
• Intellectually robust with a strongly analytic approach to problem solving. Curious, entrepreneurial and innovative, willing to get involved with technology and projects across the firm
