Department Overview

  • Treasury liquidity risks covering Nomura’s global capital-based business including risk management, management of liquidity and internal requirements.

Core Responsibilities

  • Evaluate site’s ability to meet the demand from clients, supervisors, investors, and internal requesters

Strategy, Governance & Methodology

  • Develop solid methodologies for modeling liquidity of risk scenarios, including stress scenarios.
  • Develop and review a list of all liquidity and credit risk exposure
  • Develop stress testing and reporting models - ensuring fit-for-purpose
  • Ensure alignment with liquid capital management strategies and best practice

Model Development & Governance

  • Develop and maintain liquidity risk models and model risk management framework procedures
  • Develop robust models to model development, validation, and back-testing of complex stress models models across all asset classes
  • Strengthen document compliance and ensure consistent application across markets
  • Model development including design, build, validation model implementation, model development reviews, monitoring and governance cycles
  • Assess liquidity position for new products and markets

Regulatory & Stakeholder Management

  • Primary local team leader for regulatory initiatives and LFAR demands
  • Liaise central and peripheral liquidity risk management teams
  • Prepare materials for Board, Group Committee, Supervisors, Board Committee, SIFRI, SSRI, and ILR firms
  • Participate in Regs and Risk Working Groups, Regulators, Audit, and IT Forum

Team Leadership

  • Leading group team of 4 specialists across London, New York, and London
  • Design and implement work plan to foster an atmosphere that encourages collaboration amongst high performing, multicultural, and diverse teams
  • Ensure continual communication and effective liaison across levels/locales
  • Engage employees on diverse learning opportunities and training to develop their skills
  • Harnesses cross-regional collaboration and innovation to drive growth

Business Partnership

  • Work closely with multiple stakeholder functions across the firm
  • Provide strategic advice and support to senior management
  • Collaborate with other business units to deliver innovative solutions for clients
  • Promote a positive culture of teamwork and professional development

Requirements

  • Additional skills in model development, validation, governance, back-testing, statistical modeling, and scenario analysis with large, complex datasets
  • Expert user of programming languages (Python, SQL, R) and visualizations/prototyping platforms (Palisades, Power BI, etc.)
  • Passion for clean, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions with minimal non-value activities while delivering amazing solutions to complex challenges
  • Confident articulator of complex technical concepts to varied audiences (technical and non-technical) to an organizational level, building cross team trust while earning respect
  • Strong control around mistakes with meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to deliver under pressure while meeting tight regulatory and management deadlines
  • Advanced skills in model development, validation, governance, back-testing, statistical modeling, and scenario analysis with large, complex datasets
