Description

  • The LATAM Investor will be based in Miami and will act as the in-house investment counselor (Investor) for LATAM clients, working in close partnership with the local investment and relationship teams in the client’s country of origin (e.g., Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Paraguay, Colombia). The role requires combining global macro skills, geopolitical expertise, disciplined execution, commercial presence, and the global macroeconomic context with a deep understanding of Latin American business dynamics, regulatory environments, and global macro trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with local investment specialists and relationship teams in order to deliver offshore investment advisory from Miami, ensuring alignment between local investment teams and Latin American global macro trends relating to cross-border constraints, global macro themes, liquidity needs, performance drivers, and global macro trends.
  • Analyze client portfolios, asset allocation, concentration risks, liquidity needs, performance drivers, and scalability. Develop structured client meeting narratives that begin with global macro market developments to cater to the client’s portfolio, evaluate the impact of changes, capital calls, market risks, and opportunities on the client’s portfolio, and translate conclusions into actionable recommendations for clients.
  • Utilize AI-enabled tools, investment platforms, data analytics, and productivity solutions to enhance market screening for clients, bankers, local specialists, internal committees, and new stakeholders.

  • Monitor client portfolios and investment positions, including restructuring operations, new materials, client presentations, and follow-up notes and senior shareholder discussions.
  • Coordinate closely with the local specialist in Montevideo in order to ensure a seamless “one team” client experience, clear communication guidelines, client reporting on mergers, ratings, and follow-throughs, as well as AI and regulatory requirements.
  • Support investment implementation and order execution processes including working across market operations, legal, tax, compliance, finance, product, and client operations.
  • Contribute to regional strategy development by identifying investment opportunities, competitive dynamics, emerging investment themes, and technology-enabled value creation frameworks.
  • Ensure all investment activities comply with internal governance, regulatory requirements, and risk management frameworks.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in private banking, investment advisory, asset management, brokerage, portfolio management, investment advisory, or a related investment specialist role.
  • Demonstrated experience advising Latin American clients and identifying global market trends with portfolio screens to enhance specific investment recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of global macroeconomics, geopolitics, monetary and fiscal policy, interest rates, currencies, credit markets, equities, alternatives, and the relationship between markets, macroeconomic scenarios and asset class performance.
  • Solid understanding of investment products including CDs, bonds, fixed income, mutual funds, equities, ETFs, bonds, structured notes, private credit, venture capital, real estate, and sophisticated investor products.
  • Fluent English and native or near-fluent Spanish is preferred; Portuguese proficiency is preferred.
  • Relevant banking or financial licenses or certifications, such as AJ, CIIA, CAIF, CFP, CFA, FRM, FINRA Series 63, or local equivalents as a plus depending on regulatory requirements.
