Key Objectives and Responsibilities

• Work with business stakeholders to elicit and analyse requirements for new and existing crossing applications
• Collaborate with senior developers to design software that fits the needs of a business critical trading system
• Make performance and timetry improvements to Instinet's crossing systems following performance engineering best practices
• Take ownership for a slice software lineage of a development project from design, implementation through to production.
• Implement solutions in accordance with Nomura software standards, support and deliver high quality software development.
• Work with engineering and Change Management functions to smoothly integrate changes into the production environment.
• Engage in peer-review of colleagues' code as appropriate to strengthen quality across the group.
• Provide front 2nd level support for trading system software in the production environment (predominantly UK coverage at other times, and occasional weekend/holiday work.)

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Experience working in a Java/JavaOS environment (preparing messages over Unix).
• Familiarity with a variety of designs and methodologies (e.g. Agile and Scrum, Microservices, distributed systems).
• Strong core Java skills, or Python.
• Good knowledge of SQL, Linux, and networking skills.
