Senior Storage Automation Engineer

About the Role

• The Storage team is a team of data engineers. The Platform Engineering department is a fast-born team of highly skilled candidates delivering solutions. With proactive agile performance, sustainable infrastructure for an agile organisation.
• We are in the process of transforming our Storage Infrastructure to the most advanced hybrid, and from an on-prem, we can typically migrate, operating infrastructure or on-prem cloud managed and non-technologies combined with enterprise storage products from vendors such as Pure Storage, Nutanix and AWS. We support those groups.
• Technologies used at M Group include: Pure Flash Arrays and FlashBlade, VMWare VSS, SAN, Netapp, Datto Pure Storage, NetApp FlashBlade, AWS & Flash, All Accra Cloud Storage, OCTS Storage product, FibreChannel and Datavault (Portico, PureVault, NetVault, etc).

Responsibilities

• Ensure that the storage and backup platforms in New Avalon are reliable and deliver the required performance levels
• Assist with managing capacity by ensuring we have sufficient performance and capacity to meet the business needs
• Use open source software and scripting to build tools for administration, monitoring, and capacity management tasks
• Get involved in every stage of storage projects from design to implementation to support and maintenance
• Work closely with the development and operations teams to collaborate on proactive and high-performance storage
• Communicate effectively across the organisation in written and verbal forms

Key Competencies

Required

• Excellent verbal communication, presentation, and technological skill
• Experience of scripting in one or more of the following platforms: Bash, PowerShell
• Experience of PowerShell, Bash or other scripting languages
• Our client utility skills, with the ability to trace out any performance problems
• Specialised administration of two or more enterprise storage systems

Advantageous

• Experience of Jumbo Storage, Backup, and Storage Media technologies
• Experience of Operational Support
• Experience in automation of Windows, Linux, VMware, and network technologies
• Experience with cloud technologies
