Test Lead

Role Description

• We are looking for a highly motivated, creative, and experienced Test Lead to join our team at Northern Trust. This is a full-time position where you will be responsible for leading and managing the testing and quality assurance efforts for our software products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to define and execute test strategies, develop and maintain test plans and test cases, and ensure that the software products meet the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the testing team, including hiring, training, and mentoring of test engineers.
• Define and implement test strategies for new and existing software products.
• Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
• Set up and manage test environments and test data.
• Execute manual and automated tests, ensuring that all tests pass and that reports are generated.
• Analyze test results, identify issues, and work with development teams to resolve issues.
• Work with the development team to ensure that the software products meet the highest quality standards.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in software testing, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Experience with a combination of both manual and automated testing methodologies.
• Proficiency with test management tools such as JIRA, TestRail, or similar.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-functional team environment.
• Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices.

Minimum 1 year of experience using

• At least one of the following programming languages: C#, Java, Python
• At least one of the following automated testing tools: Selenium, Appium, Cypress, Katalon
• At least one of the following test management tools: JIRA Zephyr, Xray, TestRail
• At least one of the following DevOps tools: Jenkins, GitlabCI, Azure DevOps

Preferred

• Experience in agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
• Knowledge of Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience with data automation testing
• Familiarity with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, SOAP UI)
• Knowledge of Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
• Continuous Improvement mindset
• Knowledge of data validation and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python)
